Bio:
I want to apply a client-centred approach by combining treatment methods and strategies from solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe in building a positive therapeutic relationship by incorporating empathy, respect, compassion, and trust, which creates a safe space for you to share your vulnerable experiences. I also believe that the client is the expert of self and knows more about themselves than someone else, thus I want to collaboratively work with you to search your meaning and strengths through the therapeutic process.
While being raised in Canada, I have and continue to experience the challenges in navigating my life experiences while being exposed to two different cultures. Therefore, my unique perspective will allow me to understand and incorporate cultural differences to help motivate and empower others to take charge of their lives and mental health.
Currently, I also work as a behaviour consultant and use a family-centered approach to support the core challenges and unique learning styles of children with autism. I provide consultation to these children in the home, in the community and schools. This experience provided me with various opportunities, including working with families of various cultural backgrounds, language barriers and family dynamics.
